I love a styled shoot. I use it as a chance to network with other suppliers, showcase new hire products and get creative with new ideas for styling weddings. When Aimee from OneOake asked me to supply styling props for her botanical wedding styled shoot in marquee wedding venue, The Boundary, in Southend, Essex, I was very keen to see what ideas she had.
The shoot concept was to provide wedding inspiration for modern ceremonies and wedding receptions with a fresh, crisp and contemporary look. Aimee aimed to achieve this with statement florals, luxury table décor and vintage furniture pieces including a lounge area, pair of beautiful vintage Peacock chairs and a vintage dresser to showcase the wedding cake.
There were many layers to the concept and also influences from many eras. Each of the styles were brought together with the botanical theme and simple and elegant colour palette of white, green and gold.
The brief was for me to provide luxury tableware, table décor and centrepieces to showcase the floral design by Miss Fleur Floral. I chose luxe glass chargers with a gold rim, high shine gold cutlery and our tall elegant gold rectangular flower stands. The metal flower plinths are great for marquee wedding and venues with high ceilings. They add elegance and luxury to guest tables without being obtrusive and without preventing conversation between guests.
The bespoke acrylic place names and menus created by Megan Cattermole are beautifully styled with crisp white linen and sprigs of greenery. Also created for Aimee were table numbers and a welcome sign displayed on the bar.
My styling props and tableware complimented Miss Fleur Floral's statement floral arrangements perfectly. Kelly and I have worked together on shoots before and we have the similar tastes so work well together. Her idea to create a lush foliage bomb to be displayed on my metal floral stands shows botanical, garden weddings don't always have to include flowers to be beautiful. The arrangements using a variety of foliage from Irish Green Guys were tall, bold, striking and fresh, with a variety of textures and hues of green. They complimented and enhanced the venue decor and added a bohemian feel to the styling.
Aimee wanted a neutral yet eye-catching furniture piece to display the wedding cake designed and created by Pinkface. We supplied our Art Deco style white bureau dressed with bud vases and foliage by Miss Fleur Floral.
The ceremony area was styled with the venue's whitewashed Chiavari chairs and hanging greenery decor. Aimee chose to lay a sweetheart top table, a popular option with modern brides and grooms. It's a nice idea to keep the reception intimate for the couple and helps avoid those sometimes awkward top table seating plan decisions!
